The swollen bags under your eyes can make you look older than your age. The puffy eyes are not a sight to gaze at and many people deal with this problem.
This issue can cause little swelling around the eye area, dark circles, and saggy or loose skin. It becomes hard to feel fresh and attentive when your eyes are drowsy and droopy.
Everyone desires to get rid of the annoying bags. But before looking for a treatment option, it’s important to know the causes of it.
The most common causes of under eye bags are lack of sleep and tiredness. Some other reasons are stress, aging, sun exposure, nutritional deficiency, heredity or some medical condition.
There’s no need to spend money on the cosmetic products which claim to de-puff and lighten the area under the eyes. Some natural methods and lifestyle changes can help to remove the under eye bags.
Let’s discuss them in detail!
Cucumber :
It is one of the well-known remedies for getting rid of under eye bags. It helps to reduce the swelling and puffiness due to its astringent and anti-inflammatory properties.
You’ll require chilled cucumbers for treating this issue. First, cut the thick slices of a cucumber. Chill them in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes. After this, place the cold slices over your closed eyelids for at least 15 minutes.
Tea Bags :
The antioxidants of the tea help to rejuvenate your skin around your eyes. They help to reduce the swelling and puffiness. They help to protect the skin against the UV rays of the sun and slow down the process of aging.
Just take two tea bags and steep them in hot water for 3 to 5 minutes. Then chill the tea bags by keeping them in the refrigerator for 20 minutes. Then, squeeze out the extra liquid and place them on the area under the eyes. Keep them for 15-30 minutes.
Coconut Oil :
The powerful components of coconut oil possess anti-inflammatory properties. Therefore, regular application of coconut oil helps to eliminate the eye bags.
For using coconut oil, you’ll need to first clean your fingers. Massage the oil around your eyes in both clockwise and anticlockwise motion for a few minutes. Leave it overnight to get effective results.
Cold Compress :
This is one of the simplest natural methods you can follow to deal with the bags under the eyes. The cold temperature relaxes the blood vessels and in turn reduces the swelling under the eye area.
All you have to do it, wet a clean washcloth with cool water. Hold this cloth against the skin under and around your eyes for 10 minutes. Try doing this few times a day. But make sure that the water you are using is not icy cold as it can cause frostbite.
Aloe Vera :
Aloe vera nourishes the skin with its vitamins and minerals. Plus, it supports the production of collagen (the structural protein of the skin). The astringent properties of it help to reduce the inflammation.
To use aloe vera, first, you have to extract out its gel. Then massage the gel around your eyes in a gentle manner. Let it stay for around 10 minutes and then rinse it off with cool water. Try repeating this 2 or 3 times a day.
Saline Water :
It is another natural way to reduce the inflammation under your eyes. Salt helps in the process of osmosis. It absorbs the fluid around the eyes and promotes drainage of water trapped around the eyes.
First, add ½ teaspoon of salt to one cup of lukewarm water and stir it until the salt gets dissolved. Then, soak two cotton balls in this solution. After this, lie down with your head elevated. Place a cotton ball over each of your closed eyelids for 5 minutes and rinse it off with cool water.
Get Proper Sleep :
Make sure you take a good and sound sleep for at least 7 to 9 hours per night. The position in which you sleep makes a lot of difference. Sleeping with your head elevated helps to prevent fluids from settling in your face. This, in turn, keeps the blood moving throughout your body while sleeping.
Don’t go to sleep wearing makeup, as the hidden chemicals in makeup can irritate your eyes. Before going to bed, wash your face well to remove all your makeup.
Now you don’t have to look like a raccoon anymore. These natural ways will help you to get rid of the bags under your eyes. Along with this, follow a healthy lifestyle, drink plenty of water, eat clean and exercise.
