I know it’s tough to say goodbye to your job or social media (the job of millions now). But it is important to look after your eyes as they are the two precious windows to see the world. In today’s article, I’m sharing with you a list of some easy methods which you can follow to reduce eye strain.
Let’s begin!
Eye Massage :
Massaging your eyelids in a gentle manner on regular basis is helpful for relaxing the muscles around them. This helps to improve the blood circulation and stimulate the tear glands which can prevent the dry eyes.
Follow the below steps for doing this: –
1) With the help of your fingers massage the eyelids and muscles above the eyebrows for 10-20 seconds.
2) In a gentle manner massage the lower eyelid against the lower bone for around 10-20 seconds.
3) Also, massage the temples and upper cheekbones. Do this 1-2 times a day.
Palming :
This technique helps to reduce the eye strain, especially during reading or sitting for long in front of your desktop, laptop or T.V. The main benefit of palming is that it gives rest to your eyes so they don’t become tired. To practice this, first sit in a straight and comfortable position.
Rub your hands together in a rapid way to warm them. Then, close your eyes and place your warm palms over them, without putting any pressure. Stay in this position for about 30 seconds, relax and enjoy the darkness. After this, open your eyes slowly and repeat this 3-5 times.
Cold water :
Cold water is effective in giving relief from eye strain by improving the tired muscles and reducing puffiness.
To give a quick relaxing impact on your eyes, splash some cold water on your face and closed eyes. You can also soak a soft washcloth in cold water and place it on your closed eyelids for one minute.
Sunning :
It is a good way to start a day. All you need to do is, stand in front of a window or a place which receives plenty of sunlight. Then, close your eyes and let the sunlight warm your eyelids.
Sunlight helps the retina of eyes to release dopamine, which is helpful in the healthy development of the eyes. Plus it prevents the problem of short-sightedness in children. But make sure to do this activity without wearing your glasses or contact lenses and don’t look directly at the sun.
Eye Exercises :
Regular exercise helps to increase the flow of blood to the eyes, makes the muscles more flexible and improves focus. A simple exercise is to roll your eyes in clockwise and anticlockwise directions for a few seconds.
Then take a pause and blink your eyes and repeat this 4-5 times.
Rose Water :
Rose water plays a role of natural relaxer for the tired eyes and gives a soothing effect. Moreover, it benefits the skin around the eyes by rejuvenating it and fades dark circles and puffiness.
For treating the eyes with rose water, first you need to splash them with cold water. After pat drying with a towel, dip two cotton balls in the rose water. Then lie down and place the cotton balls over your eyes. Try doing this two times a day.
Cucumber :
The astringent properties of cucumber help to soothe tired muscles near the eyes. Moreover, it is beneficial for reducing darkness and under-eye puffiness. For this, you’ll have to cool a medium-sized cucumber by placing it in refrigerator for 20-30 minutes. Then, cut it into thick slices and put over the tired eyes.
Try following this once or twice a day.
So, these are some of the natural methods which are helpful for reducing the eye strain and relaxing them. Apart from this, follow a healthy lifestyle and take enough sleep. Also go for regular eye checkups to a specialist t to make sure that your eyes are healthy.
You can also use Eye Mantra eye drops to relax your eyes. It is an ayurvedic medicine and the natural ingredients of it help to clear all the dust particles from the eyes. This, in turn, gives a soothing effect to your tired and strained eyes.
